Ugandan Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) 2021/2022 | Qualifications | How to Apply

This is a loan scheme that gives out fees to the successful students in need of the fund and upon completion of Studies, there will be grace for students for a period of 12 months.

Interestingly, the Loan only covers the Direct costs which are Tuition fees, Functional fees, Research fees, Aids and Appliances for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

However, a loan beneficiary will cater for this/her welfare expenses (accommodation, feeding, medical care, scholastic materials) and any other expenses necessary by the student.

Therefore, eligible candidates should apply for the Ugandan higher education students financing board as the application is ongoing.

Qualifications

  • Firstly, he/she must be a Ugandan Citizen.
  • Secondly, has gotten admission to pursue an accredited undergraduate diploma or degree programme any of the eligible Higher Education Institution, private chartered university or public university in Uganda.
  • Thirdly, have a financial need.
  • Fourthly, an applicant must be a joining in the first year or Continuing Student. though the Board is currently funding final year students among the continuing students.
  • Lastly, regional balance, gender, social economic needs and equity.

How to Apply

  • Offline Application: Applicants should get hard copy of the form from the participating Universities; Office of the Academic Registrar; or from any Centenary Bank Branch across the country.
  • Online Application: Applicants should via the website http://www.hesfb.go.ug/ilmis

Required Documents

  • A copy of admission letter from any of the participating HEI
  • A copy of the National ID
  • Copies of academic certificates or result slips and transcripts
  • A copy of a birth certificate
  • A copy of the recent passport photo
  • Proof of payment of the prescribed processing fees
  • A copy of the Financial card (Not mandatory at the point of application)
  • A sketch map of applicant’s current address/residence
  • A sketch map of applicant’s home of origin (if different from current address)
  • Fully filled loan application form submitted online.
